It’s rare to hear the words labour and relaxation in the same sentence. So, when Dr. Beverly Huang ND suggested this Early Labour Relaxation Tea recipe to help during labour I was intrigued.
There are a number of benefits to drinking red raspberry leaf tea in the third trimester of pregnancy and during labour. Red raspberry leaf (the leaf of a raspberry plant) contains a rich concentration of vitamin C, vitamin E, calcium and iron. It also contains vitamins A and B complex and many minerals, including phosphorus and potassium. Red raspberry leaf helps tone the uterus, and prevents miscarriage and postpartum hemorrhaging from a relaxed or atonic uterus. It also aids with the pain of delivery and enriches breast milk.
1 part Red Raspberry Leaf
1 part Stinging Nettle Leaf
1 part Skullcap Leaf
1 part Chamomile
1 part lemon balm
Mix 1 tsp of the mixture in a cup of hot water. Steep for 10 minutes. Add honey to taste.
