how much breastmilk or formula should baby drink

Your newborn will most likely be feeding every 2-4 hours in the beginning. Generally, a newborn’s stomach is the size of a cherry the first two days of life, a whole walnut by day four, and finally around the size of an egg at two weeks of age. Typically, a newborn will consume 2-3 ounces per feed in the first month. Once you and your baby get to know each other, you will recognize their signals for when they are truly full (an example includes turning their head away from nipple/bottle). Your baby should be having six wet diapers per day by the first two weeks if they are getting enough to drink throughout the day.

See this page for more about baby health, including about how many wet and dirty diapers your baby should be having.

Read this post for more information about how often babies should be fed.
