One of my favorite iconic celebrity mothers is Audrey Hepburn. Not only was she an Oscar winning actress famously known for her roles in popular movies of the 50’s and 60’s – who hasn’t seen her in Breakfast at Tiffany’s (and if you haven’t, you should soon!) – but she was also a humanitarian and a great mother. Her son, Luca Dotti, wrote a lovely personal memoir about her entitled Audrey at Home.

What I like most about Audrey’s style is that she truly emulated the classic, clean look of fashion. Coco Chanel may have designed the first little black dress but it wasn’t until Audrey wore one that they became a craze and the term LBD was coined. If you want to steal her look, just think of black and white striped breton shirts, high-waisted cropped trousers, flats… and for some occasions a simple black dress is all you need!
