A heat stroke occurs when the body temperature goes above 41.1C (105F). At this temperature, brain damage can occur; therefore, it is important to call emergency services right away. Heat stroke can happen while playing sports or being active in hot temperatures but can also happen in elderly, young children, and those suffering from chronic illness without any exertion.
Symptoms of heat stroke include: increased heart rate, changes in mood (more irritable), increased breath rate, muscle cramping, liver & kidney failure, and coma. If you suspect heat stroke and try to keep the person cool and hydrated with electrolytes while you wait for medical assistance.
