A well-equipped diaper bag can be the difference between a pleasant outing and a potentially disastrous one. As a general rule of thumb – it is best to be over prepared. You can never predict what is going to happen or how equipped the space is that you find yourself in. Trying to remember everything can be challenging. You often find gaps in your packing at the most inopportune time (when things have gone sideways). To help in this process, here is a list of “must haves” and some “nice haves” compiled by experienced moms who have learned from a few disastrous experiences of their own! This list will vary according to weather as well as the age of your child.

Dwell Studio diaper bags are Calmmother approved as a luxury for Mom’s on the go. The classic look of these bags go well with most outfits (for both men and women), and they have lots of pockets to help keep things organized, they are durable, and great for travel. And, you can continue to use these bags after your babies grow into toddlers and beyond!
But at Calmmother, we don’t really think this or any other diaper bag we’ve tried is an absolute necessity…

Determining what age to put your infant on a sleep program is highly individual. There is research showing that putting newborns on a schedule right from birth provided parent’s with more uninterrupted sleep, less stress generally, and more confidence when responding to their infants at night.

This nursing cover is Calmmother approved as a necessity for Mom’s who are breastfeeding or expressing milk (only if you prefer to cover up of course!). It offers comfort and peace of mind when feeding at home, at work or on the go. The beautiful patterns add some flare to a disheveled new Mom look.

This is a tough situation, made even more challenging when the positive changes are necessary for healing, getting your energy back or losing weight.

Preparing your house for the arrival of your baby can seem like a daunting task. You only need to crawl around on your hands and knees for a few minutes to see all the potential dangers that exist. We cannot possibly protect our kids from every bump and bruise, despite our best efforts, but thoroughly baby proofing your house can greatly reduce the risk of serious injury. While your eagle-eyes are by far the best baby proofing you can do, don’t underestimate how tired you are likely to feel the first year and how quickly things can happen. What should you do before baby arrives and what can wait until they show signs they are ready to crawl? Here is a list of ideas to get you started.

You should never place anything inside your child’s ear unless instructed by your child’s doctor. However, it is ok to place a warm, or cold – depending on your child’s preference, compress overtop of the ear.
